March 20, 2020

Further to the messages shared over the past few days, the Board has decided that the Ottawa Curling Club will close for the remainder of the 2019-2020 season. This decision aligns with the public health authorities advice asking that all public gatherings and events be cancelled. We are disheartened with this extraordinary decision but for many reasons know this is in the best interest for the health of our members, staff, guests, and our club. We look forward to next season.

Our Spring Meeting will be cancelled. The Board will be sending out a digital version in the coming weeks to update our membership on financials, facilities, and other important topics.

We will be rescheduling ‘The 59th Gordie Perry’ tentatively to kick-off next season. All participants for this season’s Perry event will be contacted with further details.

We would like to share more information on the member who had direct contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19. The potential exposure occurred outside the club on Wednesday, March 11 and the member used the club facilities the following day during the Thursday Daytime league. The club has communicated this information directly with the Thursday Daytime league. This member did not visit the club after Thursday, March 12 and has followed Public Health protocol by self-isolating and has been tested; results to be determined.

We encourage you to continue to exercise an abundance of caution in these unpredictable times and to follow public health advice, as can be found here: https://www.ottawapublichealth.ca/en/index.aspx

Yours in health & curling,
